Ready to explore the backcountry and spend a night under the stars, but not sure where to begin? Uplift Adventures offers an Intro to Backpacking program designed to build your confidence and skills in the outdoors, all while meeting like-minded friends. You’ll get invaluable knowledge from experts and professional guides certified with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides who will teach you how to plan and prepare for a backpacking trip, manage risks such as wildlife encounters and changing weather, and make sound decisions in remote environments.

This program is ideal for beginners who have some day hiking experience or anyone who wants to learn more about safety and planning for the backcountry. Can be done either on a 2 or 3-day trip, with the 3-day option including the navigation portion. Limited dates run from June to September.

• How to plan out a route

• Identifying map features in the field

• How to take a compass bearing

• Orienting yourself on the map

• Key navigational techniques to help you in the backcountry
